Kitchens and Baths Kitchens and Baths

As some of the most utilized spaces within a home why should the experience be anything less than spectacular? Outdated kitchens and bathrooms many times obscure the positive aspects of a home as well as affecting the functionality of daily life. From simple replacement of fixtures and finishes, to a complete renovation, J K Janiga Architects will explore all the possibilities to find a solution that works within your budget, while improving daily life and fulfilling your dreams.

  • As typical of homes built in the 1950's, this house lacked the master suite we have come to enjoy in newer residences. By combining two undersized bedrooms and a bathroom, J K Janiga Architects was able to create a spectacular master suite. The creation of a gallery space and introduction of transom windows above doors allow the internal hallway to be washed with light, uplifting a typically dark area of homes from this era. It is these simple details, which help to create the awe-inspiring spaces with all the functionalities expected from a modern master suite.

  • Building on the classical styles of this 1920's home in the suburbs north of Chicago, this kitchen opens up the living space to improve function as well as beauty. Custom built cabinets and trim details to match the original home accent every aspect of this renovation. Working with a small kitchen space (approximately 150 s.f.) this kitchen classically states that size doesn't always control function.

  • The attention to detail throughout every aspect of this kitchen renovation creates a dynamic space for entertaining as well as daily life. Each element of the design is created with the client and their lifestyle in mind. Not only was the cabinetry developed specifically for their work habits but also the comfort of the family cats was considered with the choice of in-floor heating and low mounted heat registers. This attention to detail is what makes each project unique.

  • Oftentimes a simple upgrade of materials can bring new life to a space. After being damaged due to a broken pipe, this small guest bath was in need of repairs. Using this as an opportunity, the client asked
J K Janiga Architects to change the feel of the space without doing an extensive renovation. Starting with a custom sink cabinet and by making simple changes in flooring and paint, this space went from a simple plain bath to one reminiscent of a luxury resort.
