With a background in historic preservation and adaptive re-use, J K Janiga Architects restored this local landmark to its original beauty. Developed for the Brighton Home Builders Association, this building was modernized to meet the needs for both office and public uses. With the implementation of modern design concepts, underutilized areas such as the Michigan basement were transformed into usable space without disrupting the historic character of this wonderful structure
Not just a corporate big box. This project was developed to meet local design restrictions without sacrificing the corporate design imagery. Exploring the details of an exterior loggia for an outdoor eating area, and quality materials we were able to clad this typical fast food restaurant with a very pleasing facade. As with so many projects it is the simple details that can make it really sing.
As with many new businesses, this building had been developed very inexpensively when it was opened 30 years previously. After years of successfully serving the community, the Owner was looking to improve the building's image to reflect the quality of service he offered. Using the elements found in the automobiles serviced at this facility, we explored various design concepts drawing inspiration from the classic repair centers throughout the history of the automobile, ultimately creating the one of a kind facility the client desired.
